A Reflection on Father's Day
Father's Day presents a unique opportunity for me to reflect on the invaluable role my children play in my life and what I've learned on my journey as a dad.
Things happened fast! During COVID-19, my family grew from two preteen kids to four by having two babies back-to-back.
Now, fast-forward a bit. In my work life, I live in this crazy, high-paced environment, and at home, I have a one-year-old, a two-year-old, and two middle schoolers. It's not boring!
I feel incredibly blessed. As I spent some time really thinking about being a father, I wanted to share a few thoughts I feel are worthwhile:
Being a dad is messy, scary, fun, and never perfect! The moment I feel like I have this thing figured out, is the moment I realize I have SO MUCH more to learn.
My kids have taught me more about myself than I could have ever imagined. My growing family has shown me my strengths, weaknesses, fears, and joy in so many ways. It's changed my entire outlook on life for the better.
Nap time is a gift from above!! lol
I could become the best boss, conquer the business world, and make millions of dollars. However, all of that pales in comparison to the legacy of love that I leave my children.
Be present! I am learning this lesson at work and at home. My phone is just one massive distraction. I don't want to wake up someday and realize that I missed the most precious moments in life watching pointless YouTube videos.
Even at this stage in their lives, my kids have given far more than I could ever give to them. Every day is a new experience. Even with the sometimes chaotic lifestyle of four young children combined with the intense pressures of work, I can't imagine greater joy and wouldn't change a thing!
I feel truly blessed and grateful for my children.
Happy Father's Day!
